Apology

What a day! It was pure chaos. Nevertheless, here is a stanza from Mnemosyne 26, Richard Wilbur’s “Apology.” Such lovely words:

Richard Wilbur

You, in a green dress, calling, and with brown hair,
Who come by the filed-path now, whose name I say
Softly, forgive me love if also I call you
Wind’s word, apple-heart, haven of grasses.
